Mysuru: Following allegations made against Prof?Dayananda Mane of sexual assault on a research scholar, the Vice-chancellor of Mysuru University has ordered a committee to probe the case and submit its report within one month.
Vice-chancellor of University of Mysore Prof K?S?Rangappa speaking to the media persons said, “I came to know about the incident through newspaper reports as I was out of station on that day. I wanted to check the veracity of the incident and sought a written complaint from the attacked research scholar, which she firmly refused.”
Prof?Dayananda Mane, chairman of department of studies in public administration was alleged to have involved in a sexual asault case. Three weeks ago, relatives of the victim who is a research scholar had assaulted a fellow scholar for allegedly mentally harassing the former at the behest of Mane.
Vice-chancellor said that in-house committee was ordered to probe the case, after Karnataka State Women’s?Commission Chairperson Manjula Manasa sought a detailed report on the case.
He also informed that a suo motu case has been already booked.
However the accused Mane has replied that he was not at the place where the victim’s relatives attacked a fellow research scholar over the issue.
