Mysuru: After the outbreak of avian flu in Bengaluru, the Mysuru Zoo authorities are taking precautions to avoid the same situation, except for barring entry to visitors of the zoo.
So far, no deaths have been reported either in the zoo or in the Karanji lake premises and the authorities are keeping a close eye on the behaviour of the birds both, in and outside the cages.
The zoo and forest officials are also keeping a close watch on the various water bodies in and around the city and the district for any signs of the disease, while also sanitising the zoo’s premises.
Heating equipment is being used to keep the animals warm and tonics are being administered to the birds in order to prevent the transfer of the virus as well as maintain their body temperatures.
