Mysuru: Rangayana has been conducting ‘Bahuroopi,’ a national theatre festival since 2001.
Speaking to mediapersons here on Wednesday March 2 Rangayana Director Addanda C. Cariappa said that this year the celebration would be held from March 11 to 20.
Cariappa said, “For the first time, besides Yakshagana Bayalata, Doddata, dramas of 35 Kannada and other languages will be staged. Tulu and Konkani languages have also been included. Twenty-four Kannada dramas and 11 dramas in other languages will be staged at five different platforms.
He said, ‘Nooramma Biryani Darbar’, the famous Tamil language drama has also been included. Well-known stage actors S. N. Sethuram and Mukyamantri Chandru will be the main attraction.
He further said, on March 12, at B V Karanth Rangachavadi, the Kodava movie “Story of Cauvery” will signal the inauguration of International Film Festival. Around 24 movies will be screened besides Puneeth Rajkumar’s “Rajakumara” and Dr. Rajkumar’s “Babruvahana.” Padma Shri awardee Tulasi Gowda will inaugurate the festival. Around 64 stalls will be set up to showcase various items. Sixteen food stalls will cater to various Indian cuisines.”
