Mysuru: Despite the fact that the State Government decided to celebrate Dasara in a simple manner, tourists from all over the State have been visiting the Culture City to see the festival. As a result, bookings in hotels and lodges are on the rise.

Last year also the government celebrated simple Dasara, but this year though it is simple, tourism activities are increasing in the district. All the tourism spots are seeing rush of tourists. The Chamundeshwari Electric Supply Company (CESC) are also responding positively for tourist flow by extending lightings for one more hour since October 7.

Normally lightings are switched on from 7.00 pm to 9.30 pm. CESC Managing Director Jayavibhava Swamy told that to avoid rush of tourists and nearby villagers who are coming to see lighting decorations, the CESC has extended lighting till 10.30 pm daily. The lighting will be extended till 11. 00 pm on Ayudha Pooja and Vijayadashami day.

According to him, CESC is losing an extra Rs. 5 lakh every day due to the one-hour lighting extension. To celebrate Dasara, the authorities have lit up 102 kilometres of road and 41 circles of the City.
