Mysuru: Devotees have strongly opposed the special entry fee hike by Sri Chamundeshwari Temple authorities in Chamundi Hills here.
Due to the Covid – 19 crisis, several places are restricted to the public and tourists. But the Chamundeshwari Temple has allowed the devotees to view the idol of Goddess at a cost of Rs. 300 as a special entry fee. Earlier the special entry fee was Rs. 100 and normal entry fee was Rs. 30. The temple witnessed heavy crowd of devotees to offer prayers on the occasion of New Year 2022.
Yathindra, a member of the temple administration, was giving out the special entry tickets for people along with the receipt. When questioned about the price, he said Chamundeshwari Constituency MLA G. T. Devegowda had agreed to these changes. But when questioned MLA Devegowda said, “I do not know anything in this regard. I am unaware that Rs. 300 is being collected as entry fee at the temple. No one had discussed this before me.”
