Mysuru: State Rural Development and Panchayat Raj (RDPR) Minister and Senior BJP Leader K. S. Eshwarappa on Wednesday December 1 advised JD (S) MLA G. T. Devegowda not to be an opportunist as he was planning to join the Congress.
Speaking to mediapersons, Eshwarappa said, “When Siddaramaiah was the Chief Minister, he had initiated caste census. When I asked for the report, he started giving vague answers. People are not ready to take what Siddaramaiah says.”
Turning his attention to G. T. Devegowda, the BJP leader said, “In fact, it was he who helped defeat Siddaramaiah in the last Assembly elections. But now he is hinting at joining Congress which is nothing but opportunism. I sincerely advise him to be careful.”
He said, “We are holding conventions of OBCs and backward classes with a good intention. The response has been overwhelming. Our effort was good in Hubballi, Dharwad, Davanagere and Kalaburagi and now we are in Mysuru. Backward classes supported Congress for nearly 70 years but they did nothing for their development. Former Prime Minister and JD (S) Supremo H. D. Deve Gowda on Tuesday November 30 met Prime Minister Narendra Modi for constructive work,” he remarked.
