Mysuru: According to sources, 25 estranged couples have been reunited at the Mega Lok Adalat in Mysuru on Saturday December 18.

Couples who had filed for divorce were counselled and reunited at the Lok Adalat held at the Malalavadi Court Complex in Jayanagar.

Principal District and Sessions Court Judge M. L. Raghunath, who is also the President of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), gave the reunited couples a book titled “Anyonya Dampatya Hege”.

An estimated 7,000 birth certificates have been issued at the Lok Adalat. After finding that thousands of schoolchildren in the district, mostly in rural regions, lack birth certificates, the DLSA decided to make birth certificates easier to get at the Lok Adalat.

The cases considered included both pending and pre-litigation matters, with the DLSA conducting a legal awareness programme in various parts of the district, urging litigants to settle their disagreements through mediation, counselling, and conciliation.

Motor Vehicle Accident claims under the IMA Act, cheque bounce cases registered under the Negotiable Instruments Act, land acquisition cases, marital and domestic disputes, compoundable criminal cases, partition suits, injunction suits, and other cases were among those resolved during Saturday’s Lok Adalat.
