MUDA recovers land worth crores from encroachers

Mysuru: Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) officials and workers on Friday March 25 cleared the illegal land encroachments on KRS Road at Gokulam here. The land is worth crores of rupees.

The demolition drive of illegal structures was carried out under the guidance of Superintendent Engineer Shankar on the directives of MUDA Commissioner Dr. D. B. Natesh.

The illegal sheds had sprung up on KRS Road near Hasu-Karu Park in Gokulam. The authorities razed the structures and took possession of the properties.

Mysuru Taluk, Kasaba Hobli, Maragowdanahalli, 5.10 acres of land coming under Survey Number 210 belonging to G. S. Rangaswamy Iyengar was purchased by the City Improvement Trust Board (CITB), now MUDA, in 1945 for a price of Rs. 2,400 for residential development. Several people were illegally living in sheds in the 15 gunta undeveloped land. The MUDA officials had to evict the illegal land encroachers despite several notices issued to them being ignored.

MUDA Assistant Executive Engineer Ravindra Kumar, Assistant Engineer Puttanagaraj and workers of MUDA zonal office carried out the land eviction drive.
