Mysuru: The Muslims in the City set an example for communal harmony by participating in cremation of a Hindu woman on Saturday April 23.
It is said that Jayakka (61), a native of Gousia Nagar here died of illness. She was the only Hindu resident in the area since forty years, which has more than 3000 Mulsim houses. She has no relatives except son and daughter-in-law. The neighbouring Muslims came to the help of the family when her son urged for some helping hand.
A resident, Tanvir Pasha said, “We all are living like brothers and sisters since decades but politicians breed hatred for political gains. He said nearly 50 Muslims participated in the cremation. We would do the same if any community persons seek help, he added .
