Mysuru: In a tragic incident, a tigress was killed after it was caught by a roll fitted to the fence of a field on the edge of the forest in Antharasanthe Wildlife range of Nagarahole National Park.

The 12-year-old tigress was found dead and must have died 8 to 10 days ago. While only a part of the tiger’s head and body remained, the remaining part had decomposed. It was taken to the forest and cremated.

According to the villagers, the carcass of a tiger was found decomposed in a ditch in the middle of a field on the edge of the forest about 300 metres from the road leading to Dammanakkatte from Taraka Village in H.D. Kote Taluk. Antharasanthe Wildlife Range Forest Officer Siddaraju and staff rushed to the spot and took further action after Gram Panchayat President Subrahmanya informed the Forest Department about the decomposed tiger’s body in a field.
