Mysuru: Hundreds of bikers rode off in precision at the bike rally organised to mark the 75th anniversary of independent India celebrated as Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, in the cultural city on Sunday May 22.
The programme was jointly organised by Kreeda Bharati, Ministry of Transport and Highways and Department of Sports and Youth Empowerment from Chamundi Vihar Stadium, Nazarbad in the city to Srirangpatna in Mandya District.
Hundreds of bikers with tricolour fixed to handles, including Muslim women bike riders took part with equal enthusiasm. While the entry was free for the event, the helmet was made mandatory for the riders in compliance with traffic rules. Women bike riders also participated in the rally.
Col. R. R. Menon, Group Commander of NCC Group headquarters, Mysuru flagged off the rally. Suresh Kandavara, Director, Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports, Sapper Mahesh H. N. for Bravery Award winner and H. M. Srikanta, Coordinator, Kreeda Bharati Mysuru were present.
