Mysuru-Chamarajanagara candidates file nomination papers for MLC election

Mysuru: C N Manjegowda filed his nomination as JD (S) candidate for the election to Legislative Council from Mysuru-Chamarajanagara Local Bodies’ Constituency on Tuesday November 23.

Manjegowda who quit Congress and joined JD (S) in the presence of Former Chief Minister H. D. Kumaraswamy on Monday November 22 officially quit the grand old party minutes before filing the nomination on Tuesday November 23.

Prior to nomination process, Manjegowda went to Congress Bhavan and handed over his resignation letter to the primary membership of the party to Karnataka Pradesh Congess Committee Working President R. Dhruvanarayana. He has cited personal reasons to quit the party.

If Manjegowda filed nomination papers from JD (S), R. Raghu ( Kautilya) filed his nomination as BJP candidate for the election to Legislative Council from Mysuru- Chamarajanagar Local Bodies’ Constituency on Tuesday. Raghu was accompanied by Cooperation Minister S. T. Somashekar who is also In-Charge for Mysuru and Chamarajanagara Districts, Former MLC S. T. Siddaraju, MLAs L. Nagendra and B. Harshavardhan handed over the nomination papers to Deputy Commissioner Dr. Bagadi Gautham who is also the District Electoral Officer. Raghu had unsuccessfully contested his maiden election to the council from same seat in 2015. With renewed hope, Raghu who is the incumbent Chairman of D. Devaraja Urs Backward Classes Development Corporation is trying his luck again. Raghu is in the coterie of Former Chief Minister B. S. Yediyurappa and his son B. Y. Vijayendra BJP State Vice-President, who enjoy enough clout in old Mysuru region.

Further, Congress candidate Dr. D. Thimmaiah submitted his nomination for the election to Legislative Council from Mysuru-Chamarajanagar Local Bodies’ Constituency on Tuesday. The elections for 25 seats from 20 constituencies is on December 10.

Thimmaiah along with KPCC Working President R. Dhruvanarayana, Former Minister Dr. H. C. Mahadevappa, MLA Tanveer Sait, City Congress President R. Murthy and Rural Congress Committee President Dr. B. J. Vijay Kumar came on foot to the Deputy Commissioner’s Office and submitted the nomination.

Thimmaiah a native of Hunsur worked as Health Officer in Mysuru and Kodagu Districts. He began his stint in politics from JD (S) and later defected to BJP.

While he joined Congress party in the recent years and succeeded in getting ticket for Council poll from Mysuru-Chamarajanagara Constituency.
