Mysuru: During the month of Ashadha, the Chamundeshwari Temple hundi (offering box) has received more than Rs. 3.5 Crore. This is a record in the history of the temple.
Lakhs of devotees visit the temple situated at Chamundi hills. The devotees offered a whopping Rs 2,33,51,270 in cash, 270 grams of gold and 1 kg of silver. In addition, Rs 1,03,69,270 was collected from admission tickets.
“On Monday July 25, a total of 250 employees counted the donations under CCTV surveillance in the temple premises . More than Rs. 1 lakh cancelled notes of Rs. 500 and Rs. 1,000 denominations and foreign currencies
were also found in the hundi,” said Temple Executive Officer C.J. Krishna.
