Mysuru: Dasara Committee seeks Rs 50.5 Crore grants from State

Mysuru: The Dasara committee has sent a proposal of Rs. 50.5 Crore grants from State Government to celebrate Dasara.

At a meeting of committee held on Saturday September 3 chaired by District In-Charge Minister S. T. Somashekar has decided to celebrate Dasara grandly as it was celebrated in a small way owing to Covid pandemic.

Tourism has hit hard due to Covid. The grand Dasara would also be aimed to attract tourists across nation.

The State Government appointed Deputy Commissioner Dr. Gautham Bagadi as special officer for Dasara and officers for other committees. Inauguration of Dasara Cultural Programme, Yuva Sambhrama, Yuva Dasara, Dasara Film Festival, Poetry Festival, Dasara Food Fair, Dasara Drama Festival, Dasara Fruit Flower Show, Dasara Book Festival, art troupes, grand jumbo savari procession, participation of various tableaus have been planned.

The DC Dr. Bagadi Gautam has informed that the permission of the Government has been sought for the approval and utilisation of 5 Crore from the Palace Management Board and 10 Crore from MUDA. Apart from this proposal sought Rs. 35.5 Crore grants from State Government, he added.

The State Government spent Rs. 15 Crore in 2017, Rs. 15 Crore in 2018, Rs. 23.83 Crore in 2019, Rs. 2.91 Crore in 2020 and Rs. 5.42 Crore in 2021 to celebrate Dasara.
