Mysuru: Dasara elephant Gopalaswamy on Friday September 23 carried wooden howdah during the routine practice in the City.
According to Forest Department personnel, Gopalaswamy carried the wooden howdah from Ambavilasa Palace to Bannimantap and back, totalling about 10 kms. In all 14 elephants have been brought in two batches for Nada Habba.
Mysuru Dasara will be inaugurated by the President Droupadi Murmu at Chamundi Hill on Monday September 26. Jamboo Savari the last leg of Dasara is on October 5. The elephants will be made to carry the howdah in turns during the practice, as an alternative to 750-kg Golden Howdah carrier Abhimanyu, in case of any emergency for the D-day.
