Mysuru: Donated organs of brain dead youth give life to four

Mysuru: The parents who donated the organs of their son with brain dysfunction have given life to four people.

Manoj (26), a resident of Hebbala here working as a mechanical engineer is the person who met with an accident on the night of October 16 at Jayachamaraja Nagara here. He was admitted to Apollo BGS Hospital on Monday October 17. But his health was in serious condition and he was kept under medical observation for two days.

According to the Human Organ Transplantation Act, on the morning of Thursday October 20, the doctors of the hospital declared him brain dead. Later several tests confirmed that he was eligible for organ donation.

When Manoj’s parents Jayashankar and Jayalakshmi were advised about organ donation, the parents agreed. Manoj’s organs (heart valves, one kidney, and liver corneas) were transplanted. Heart valves were sent to Shri Jayadeva Hospital, Bengaluru, liver and right kidney to Apollo BGS Hospital, Mysuru, and corneas to JSS Hospital, Mysuru.
