Mysuru: The farmers’ round table meet on March 19 will see the participation of farmers from all over the country to discuss their community’s plight in India.

The conference, which will be attended by leaders of farmer organisations, will address the issue of GST imposed on pesticides, fertilisers, drip irrigation equipment, and turmeric.

According to sources, they will demand a rollback. Farmers also want the government to allow 75 per cent of the land value as a loan and remunerative price for sugarcane. To avoid financial losses due to natural disasters, they will urge the government to set a Minimum Support Price (MSP) for crops and include them in the Fasal Bima Yojana.

During the conference, farmers will demand that the State Government revoke the APMC Act and the Land Reforms Act in Karnataka. Turmeric growers will also meet with Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, urging him to waive interest on agro production units that were hit by the pandemic.
