Mysuru: As part of the world-famous Mysuru Dasara festival, a fruit and flower show will be organised at Kuppanna Park here from September 26 to October 5, said Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Poornima B. R. on Saturday September 24.
Speaking to mediapersons at Kuppanna Park, she said “To mark the 75th year of Indian independence, a replica of Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi will be built using red and white roses. In memory of Sandalwood actor Puneeth Rajkumar, his bust will be made using flowers with a brief explanation about his achievements as an actor. Mysuru kings used to build ‘Tandi Sadak’ for people to rest. A replica of it will be made.”
Poornima said, “A seven-foot honeybee and 12-foot Giraffe are some of the attractions. A model house will be built using 7-foot chilli. Many concepts will come alive during the flower show. Dairy Day, Ullas Agarbathis and Suvarna Channel are the sponsors.
She further added that “In the evenings, there will be many programmes to entertain the visitors. The entire Kuppanna Park will be decorated with flowers. Marigold, French Marigold, Genia and Dalia are some of the flower varieties to be used for decoration.”
She said, “Stalls related to government departments, organic stalls, agricultural stalls and other stalls that are helpful to farmers will be set up.” Mysuru Dasara flower show Committee President S. R. Nanjappa, Vice President Om Srinivas, Susheela and others were present.
