Mysuru goes into active mode to host PM Modi

Mysuru: The Cultural City has turned into a action hub as it is all buoyed upto host International Day of Yoga (IDY) at Palace Grounds on Tuesday June 21.

Home Minister Araga Jnanendra himself is monitoring security arrangements by visiting the City.

Ending speculations, Mysuru – Kodagu MP Prathap Simha on Sunday June 19 said both Pramoda Devi Wodeyar and Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wodeyar will be sharing the dais with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the main event of International Day of Yoga 2022 at Mysuru Palace on June 21. After the event, Prime Minister will be having breakfast with Wodeyars at Palace. Nearly 15000 Yoga enthusiasts would take part in IDY.

Speaking to mediapersons, Home Minister Araga Jnanendra said that apart from Mysuru Police, additional forces have been summoned from other districts to maintain law and order.

Earlier MP Prathap Simha has said that all the advertisement and flex boards on the route which Modi passes through will be removed. But workers are seen erecting flexes since two days besides roads where Modi is scheduled to pass. This has attracted sharp criticism by netizens in social media.

The District Administration has banned entry of devotees on to Chamundi Hills and temple on Monday June 20 from 12 noon to 9.00 pm. Modi is scheduled to visit temple at 7.30 pm.

A gift for Prime Minister Modi is awaiting in City. Navaratna Jewellers of the City have got a golden memento designed exclusively for the Prime Minister from Thailand. The memento containing the portraits of the Prime Minister including Yoga demonstration and Palace with the words of greetings all etched in Gold, will be gifted to the Prime Minister. It is a gift to thank the PM on behalf of Mysureans for selecting Mysuru for International Day of Yoga 2022.

The  District Administration has diverted vehicular traffic on Bengaluru – Madikeri National Highway on Monday and Tuesday. The
hospitality industry is all smiles with the rooms in almost all the hotels in full capacity.

According to Hotel Owners’ Association, Mysuru President C. Narayan Gowda ahead of the main event of lnternational Day of Yoga 2022, a large influx of yoga practitioners and tourists in the City, an estimated 10,000 rooms are occupied at the hotels in the heart of the City and also outskirts. While 95 per cent of the rooms are occupied at hotels in the heart of the city, 85 per cent occupancy is reported in the outskirts at outer ring roads and various localities.”
