Mysuru: The continuous protest being staged by the Gypsy community of Ekalavya Nagar has completed 45 days on Saturday October 29.

The protest going on in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office demanding title deeds of their houses. The protestors said that they are staying in survey number 37 in Ekalavya Nagara on the outskirts of Mysuru City. The land belongs to State Government. More than 250 families are staying in the area without basic amenities.

They said that they don’t have title deeds for the houses, hence it is difficult to avail of financial assistance from banks. On the other hand, mafia dons are trying to encroach on the land illegally, it is alleged.

They said that they want title deeds to protect the land from encroachers. Despite appealing to revenue authorities and political representatives for two years none took it seriously. They said that they would continue to protest till authorities issued title deeds.
