Mysuru: As many as nine months have passed since the commercial stalls constructed in various parts of Hunsur City have not been cleared by the tenants even after nine months of the auction.
Over 100 staff led by Municipal Commissioner M. Manasa, Environmental Engineer Roopa and Revenue Officer Pampa, who swung into action on Saturday December 3 instructed the officials to evict those who were doing business in 75 shops, including 71 in Santhe Mala, 2 in Akshaya Bhandar Circle and 2 in H. D. Kote Circle.
While some agreed and evicted themselves, others objected and engaged in a verbal spat with the authorities, asking them to give more time to vacate. Further, the authorities and the police did not allow the traders to protest.
Later, the items in the shops, which were reluctant to be cleared, were video-filmed, cleared, sealed and taken over by the Municipal Corporation.
Mysuru Planning Authority Officer Somanath, Saishankar, Revenue Officers Siddaraju and Surendra, Senior Health Officer Satish, Chandru, MCC Advocate Nandan and staff participated in the operation.
