Mysuru: Job fair attracts thousands of aspirants

Mysuru: The youth in the State are facing a lot if trouble getting skilled. Hence we need to fine tune the skilling abilities among youth to make them successful persons,” said Minister for Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Livelihood Dr. C. N. Ashwath Narayan.

Speaking after inaugurating the Job Fair organised by  Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) and Karnataka Skill Development Corporation (KSDC) on Thursday April 7 Dr. Ashwath Narayan said “annually 75,000 candidates are provided skill training and we are targeting to train 2.5 lakh candidates this year to get ambitious jobs. We have a tracking system to upgrade the skills of job aspirants.”

In all 5,000 candidates have enrolled for the Job Fair with the employers from Mysuru and nearby areas coming forward to hire deserving candidates. Under Industry 4.0 initiative, our Government is developing 150 institutions and remaining 100 institutions will be taken up soon. It is aimed to provide skill sets of global standards to one lakh youth, he added.

Ashwath Narayan also dedicated KSOU Radio (Online App-based) and Shravya Audio-Visual studio and renovated Nala building on campus.

KSOU Vice Chancellor Prof. S. Vidyashankar said “The varsity has incorporated UCMS software, one stop services from admission to exit level with marks card, and which is an all digitalised system, a true model in education. Self- financing scheme is also successfully implemented in the State. Our State is also the first to implement New Education Policy (NEP),” Vidyashankar added.

‘New Education Policy and Opportunities’ a book authored by KSOU Lecturer Sudhakar Hosahalli was also released by Dr. Ashwath Narayan. More than 80 companies participated in fair.
