Mysuru: A young man was killed in a leopard attack near Madgar Lingaiyanahundi Village in T. Narasipura Taluk on Monday October 31.
The deceased has been identified as Manjunath (18) studying BCom at Maharaja College in Mysuru. The incident took place when he went with his friends to Muddu Maramma Temple near Mallappa hill to offer pooja. While walking on the road, a leopard abruptly jumped out of the bush and attacked the young man. Friends tried to save Manjunath by throwing stones at the leopard but to no avail. He died before the villagers came to help the youth.
Following the incident, the people of the village around Mallappana Hill are panicky and fearful to come out of their houses at night. Range Forest Officer Shashidhar and Bannur Police Station personnel visited the place and conducted an inspection.
MLA M. Ashwin Kumar also expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased. MLA assured the family of the deceased of compensation from the Government.
