Mysuru: All the ministers have been visiting rain-hit areas and want to be with the people in this hour of crisis. I will be touring all over the rain affected areas for first-hand information on rain-induced losses. We are with our people, said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.
Speaking to mediapersons here on Tuesday July 12 at airport he said that “I have been collecting information on the losses incurred due to rain throughout the State. In many areas, roads have been damaged badly. Many areas have reported landslides. Kodagu District has reported an earthquake. Most of the reservoirs are overflowing, resulting in loss of crops.”
The Chief Minister said, “National Disaster Management Authority has Rs. 739 Crore at its disposal to be used during an emergency situation. In North Karnataka, 63 villages have been shifted. We are coming out with a master plan for villages on the banks of rivers. Kodagu is in a seismic zone and landslides have become common now. The concerned ministers have been advised to visit Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, Chikkamagaluru and other rain-ravaged Districts. The entire team of ministers is busy with relief work.”
In reply to a query on Eidgah Maidan at Chamarajapete in Bengaluru, he said, “the concerned officials have been entrusted with the job of settling the issue.”
Ministers V. Sunil Kumar, S. T. Somashekar, Mysuru – Kodagu Member of Parliament Prathap Simha MLAs S. A. Ramadas, L. Nagendra and B. Harshavardhan and Mysuru Urban Development Authority Chairman H. V. Rajeev, Mysuru Deputy Commissioner Dr. Bagadi Gautham and others were present.
