Mysuru: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) spokesperson M. Lakshman said that when eggs were recently thrown at the car of Congress Legislature Party leader Siddaramaiah in Kodagu, there was also an attempt to attack him with knife.

“However, it was stopped because Siddaramaiah was surrounded by security officers. The intention was clear,” he said.

Sampath, who threw eggs at the vehicle, is an RSS activist, said Lakshman.

“Sundara Murthy, his father, serves on the Somwarpet Town Panchayat. Sampath is a close to BJP MLA Appachu Ranjan and a civil contractor. Sampath’s photo with a Congress flag and shawl was taken on Appachu Rajan’s building terrace. Sampath is an RSS worker from the Napoklu region, not a member of Congress.

Let there be a judicial probe, and I will present all the evidence to demonstrate that he is an RSS worker and the photos are altered, he added.

Lakshman also claimed that he has audio recordings of K. G. Bopaiah, a Kodagu MLA, speaking with the BJP High Command and receiving instructions to attack Siddaramaiah in order to stop his popularity. “Siddaramaiah called the Kodagu superintendent of police more than ten times when we were in Periyapatna to let him know that there was a plan to attack him. However, neither the SP nor the call were answered. A car belonging to Siddaramaiah was attacked with eggs and stones. He said that the RSS had planned the attack to assassinate Siddaramaiah.
