Mysuru: A three-year-old female leopard, which used to hunt people and cattle, has finally been trapped in a cage.
The leopard fell into a cage on the farm which belongs to Siddaraju of Vaddambalu Village in Hunsur Taluk. The leopard, which was crossing the Lakshmana Theertha River on the outskirts of Nagarahole Park towards the village, had been killing stray dogs, poultry and cattle for the past few days.
Based on a complaint lodged by the villagers, the Forest Officials inspected the spot and found the bone on Siddaraju’s land. The dog was tied up to catch the leopard.
The leopard, which entered the cage on the night of Saturday November 12 in the hope of hunting a dog, was trapped in the cage.
The Forest Department officials, who came to know about the leopard’s capture, shifted the captured leopard to Metikuppe Range of Nagarahole Park and released it from captivity.
