Mysuru: In a tragic incident, a tiger attacked and killed a cow while it was being allowed to graze in a field on the fringes of Nagarahole Park in B. R. Nagarahole Taluk on Tuesday November 8. It happened on the edge of the forest.

The tiger has killed a cow which belongs to Shekar of Gowdikere Village in Hanagodu Hobli of the taluk after dragging it over 200 metres away. The incident came to light when the owner of the cow, Shekhar, went to the grazing site.

Recently, a cow was injured by a tiger and is now struggling between life and death. In the wake of tiger attacks in the area for the past two days in a row, people are worried as students going to schools and colleges and labourers going to the farms for work are in a state of panic.

Deputy Range Forest Officer of the Forest Department Siddaraju visited the spot and said that the compensation from the Department will be disbursed immediately.

The tiger’s footsteps were found in the land around Negattur to Billenahosahalli pond. Gram Panchayat Member H. P. Shivanna has urged the Forest Department to take immediate steps to catch the tiger.
