Mysuru: Forest Department personnel have arrested two persons in the wee hours of Tuesday October 11 and recovered deer meat from them.
It is said that the poachers transporting meat on a bike at Kalasur in N Begur wildlife division in HD Kote Taluk. Prasad and Muniappa, natives of Basapur in HD Kote Taluk are the arrested accused.
Acting on a tip-off forest officials stopped a bike at the N Begur forest check post. Upon search, the meat was found. It is said that the accused were poaching wild animals by using guns and selling them in the village saying it is mutton.
Forest Department officials team headed by RFO Shivanna Gowda recovered bike and meat and arrested two persons under the guidance of Deputy Conservator of Forests Dr. Ravish Kumar, Hediala, Assistant Conservator of Forests K. Paramesh.
The accused has been produced before JMFC court which remanded them to judicial custody for 14 days.
