Mysuru: Unseasonal rains in the District for the last few days has affected the production of vegetables , which has resulted in a hike of vegetable prices.
The heavy rains have caused destruction of tomato and other crops in the District. The prices of beans, carrots, and tomatoes have been increasing gradually. Price of a kilogram of any vegetable has been observed to have increased by 40 percent.
Vendors of the fruit and vegetable market said that the customers are now hesitating to buy vegetables. This has disturbed the vendors’ daily life and budget. As per some reports, the prices of vegetables per kg have gone up as follows. While beetroot is Rs. 30, capsicum is Rs. 60, carrot Rs. 80, beans Rs. 80, Ginger Rs. 80, Chillies Rs. 80, Radish Rs. 30, Tomatoes Rs. 80, Brinjals Rs. 40 and the is Onion Rs. 20.
