Mysuru: Scion of erstwhile royal family of Mysuru Pramoda Devi Wodeyar said that the family would be ready to take up restoration works in Devaraja Market and Lansdowne buildings in association with the Government.
Speaking to mediapersons after unveiling the bust of 25th and last Maharaja of Mysuru Jaya Chamarajendra Wodeyar atop Chamundi Hills on Friday April 22 she said “Nothing is impossible, and restoration is possible. Even Rajendra Vilas Palace (at Chamundi Hills) was in pathetic condition but we have been restoring the whole structure. She said it is right to demolish Devaraja Market. It is advisable to retain the heritage value and repair the old structure. The structure is good enough to be retained in its present form. There are two opinions from experts. It is better to appoint the right people for another opinion. There is always a solution to every problem. There should be a prompt attempt to save Devaraja Market.”
“If the government coordinates with us, we are ready to restore the two iconic structures,” said Pramoda Devi Wodeyar who has successfully undertaken the restoration works of Jaganmohan Palace Museum and residential wings of Mysuru Palace under the aegis of Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar Foundation.
On Wednesday April 20, Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja flagged off the protest rally of traders of aforesaid heritage structures and took strong exception to the decision of the District Administration.
