Mysuru: District Minister S. T. Somashekar on Wednesday October 6 visited Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens and adopted an elephant to mark his birthday.
Speaking to media persons he said that, “all preparations have been made for success of Dasara celebration. We have done with everything. Cultural programmes will begin at Mysuru Palace premises from tomorrow. People are not allowed to witness the ‘Jamboo Savari’ and they can watch it online. Only public representatives, police personnel and the media persons have been given permission.”
He thanked Infosys Foundation Chairperson Sudha Murty and the Reserve Bank of India for extending help. She has spent Rs. 3 crore to accommodate new animals in Mysuru Zoo. It will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and Sudha Murthy on October 28.
Reacting to former Chief Minister H. D. Kumaraswamy’s comment on RSS, Somashekar said, “There is no pressure on us as complained by Kumaraswamy. I think he is short of information. Perhaps he is speaking along these lines in light of upcoming by-elections.”
