Mysuru: South Western Railway (SWR) organised a mock exercise along with National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and Railway Police near Ashokapuram Railway Station here on Tuesday September 21. The drill was held to check the readiness of the concerned forces whenever there is a disaster.

Upon receiving the information that some of the bogeys of a train had derailed near Ashokapuram, the NDRF team, ambulance, fire extinguishers, top officials and Railway Police rushed to the spot.

NDRF and others attempted to rescue the injured passengers and transport them to the nearest hospitals, despite the fact that it was a mock exercise.

Speaking at the event, an official said, “The exercise was held to check our readiness in case of an emergency. We wanted to give practical training to our staff.”
