Mysuru: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has written to the State Government instructing to conduct a probe into irregularities in Karnataka State Open University (KSOU).
It is alleged that the present KSOU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor S. Vidya Shankar had allegedly been involved in irregularities by appointing staff without government approval. In a complaint to UGC, the Retired VC Professor N. S. Rame Gowda alleged that the VC Vidya Shankar opened more regional centres unnecessarily. The KSOU is conducting courses by violating the norms of UGC. He also alleged that the VC is doing all this to make money through corruption. He said he would submit the related document to the probing officers.
The UGC has taken the complaint seriously and instructed the Government to conduct a probe against VC S. Vidya Shankar and give information.
