New Year celebrations should be wrapped up by 1am: Mysuru Compol

Mysuru: “Do not indulge in uncivilized behaviour in public areas and create problems in the name of ‘New Year’ celebration. If caught, wrong-doers will be subjected to stringent legal action”, said Mysuru City Police Commissioner K T Balakrishna.

Briefing the media on Tuesday ,on the arrangements made by Mysuru City Police and district administration for the  New Year celebration, he said, “In order to protect women during the New Year celebrations, three special women police teams and four Pink Hoysala police teams have been deployed. Traffic Rapid Action Force has also been deployed to keep an eye on drink and drive cases.”

Speaking about the New Year party this year, compol said, “The police and the district administration have already put a break on late night parties. By this, all the hotels, restaurants, clubs, pubs etc should shut down by 1 am. Several homestays, service apartments and associations have been given strict orders so as to carry out all the party and celebration within their premises and wind up by 1 am.”

“If the bar and restaurants want to extend liquor supply ahead of the time stipulated by the police department and district administration, owners should seek permission from the excise department in writing. Entry to Chamundi Hills through Uttanahalli Cross Gate, Daivivan Gate, Chamundi Gate, and Lalitha Mahal Gate has been restricted from December 31, 7 pm and also 9 pm from Tavarekatte Gate. No liquor, food and other substances are allowed to be taken to Chamundi Hills. Stringent action will be taken against those who get into hostels, residences, working women’s hostel and create nuisance in the name of wishing for New Year”, he added.
