K.R.Pete: An incident of death by suicide of a farmer unable to repay loan for personal and agricultural reasons has been reported here in K.R.Pete of Mandya district.
The deceased has been identified as Umesh (34) from Nayasingahalli under Santebaachahalli here. The farmer had about Rs. 5 lakh loan. He has left behind his wife Rani and two daughters.
It is reported that he was fearful as he had no good yield this year and resorted to hanging himself from a tree near his farm. However, neighbours came to his rescue and took him to a hospital in Shravanabelagola and later for further treatment to Hassan where he succumbed without responding to treatment.
The town police station has registered a case in this regard.
