Mysuru: The Hotel Owners’ Association conducted a one-day interaction and awareness programme on “Digital Banking Services” at its premise in Krishnamurthypuram here on Tuesday.

Speaking after inaugurating the programme MLC Sandesh Nagaraj called upon the hoteliers and members of the association to go for digital transactions and providing services accordingly that includes swiping facility at their respective business outlets. “This facility will really help the tourists at large. Once these facilities come up in all the hotels, resorts, bakery, sweet stalls and commercial centres definitely it will enable more transparency and prevent people from carrying cash in their hands.  All of a sudden, one can’t expect to implement the facility immediately. Before implementing such facility, the government should give some time to the businessmen so that they get updated about the new facility and start using the same”, he opined.

Narayana Gowda, President, Mysuru Hotel Owners’ Association said, “During the one-day awareness programme, the experts who had come from different banks briefed about various digital banking services including debit card, credit card, swiping machines, net banking and e-commerce. We have instructed all our members which not only includes hotels but also restaurants, sweet stalls and bakeries to provide card swiping facility for the customers. We have ordered for 300 swiping machines but there is no availability.  Most of the hotels and other members will start the facility by January next year”.

More demand for swiping machines:

Earlier, the bank officials used to promote the card swipe machines and now due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s interest in cashless services, swiping machines are in great demand and most of the banks are getting many orders. Prior to this situation, such machines were supplied to the applicants in less than a week but now most banks are saying machines are out of stock. Apart from hotels, even petty shops have started placing orders for swiping machines.
