Mysuru: The forest officials have failed in their operation to chase away the man-eater tigress which had entered the Magge and Malali village four days ago.
On Thursday, one person died in an accidental fire during the operation and two others were injured. On Friday too, more than 100 officials carried out the operation with the help of trained elephants but failed to trace the tiger.
It is learnt that the tigress with its cubs had entered the banana plantation of Kirabannana Maya in Malali village 20 days ago and killed several domestic animals. The villagers had informed the forest officials and an operation was started four days ago with an intention of chasing the tigress to the forest from the plantation. The officials, in the process, fired in the air and also crackers. But the operation carried out by Dr. Uma Shanker and 100 officials with the help of tamed elephants Abhimanyu and Krishna has failed.
Since they have not been able to catch the tigress there is a tensed atmosphere in the villages around.
