Mysuru: With a view to ensure free movement of bona fide passengers on platforms at Mysuru railway station during the peak Dasara festive season, the rate for platform tickets has been raised to Rs 20 from Rs 10 for three days from October 11 to 13. The railways has also planned additional coaches and special trains to ease rush during dasara, especially on Vijayadashami day and next day.
Anil Kumar, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, South Western Railway, Mysuru division said “On normal days, at an average 30,000 people commute from Mysuru while during dasara season that especially on the day of Vijayadashami and also the next day, the number of commuters touches nearly 40,000. Hence for welfare of train commuters, the railway has taken this measure. This is not for the first time we have taken this decision; such decision was also taken last year as well. This controls rush at platform and bona fide passengers can make ease sigh of relief and also enables them to travel bit comfortably”.
The revised rate will be only for three days and only at Mysuru Railway Station. The platform ticket will be Rs 10 in other stations. The validity period of platform tickets will continue to be 2 hrs from the time of issue.
Apart from this Anil Kumar also mentioned that, to ease rush on Vijayadashami day, there will be special train towards Bengaluru and Chamarajanagar. “The special train towards Bengaluru will depart Mysuru at 10.30pm and towards Chamarajanagar at 8.40pm. There will be additional coaches and stoppages at both the routes” added Anil.
