Mysuru: Following a complaint filed by a student against the Karnataka State Open University (KSOU), that it has re-started its admission process even though its courses have been de-recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC), police on Monday visited the premises for investigation.
Jayalaxmipuram police on Monday secretly visited the KSOU registrar to conduct an investigation.
An MBA student filed a complaint at Jayalaxmipuram station and alleged that KSOU has started admissions dispite it was not recognised by UGC. Following the complaint a Jayalaxmipuram police station team led by an Inspector took KSOU registrar Prof P S Nayak for preliminary investigations and sought a official letter saying that KSOU would not start admissions untill UGC recognizes it.
P S Nayak speaking to media persons said, “there is no recognition from UGC hence we have not started admission process” .
When asked about taking disciplinary action against those erring officials within December 3, he said that we have held discussions about it in the administrative board meeting and we will take action after taking judicial experts advice.
Justice Dr K Bhakthavatsala, who headed the one-man fact-finding committee on the alleged 14 counts of irregularities in Karnataka State Open University (KSOU), has not mentioned the names of any of the KSOU vice-chancellors in the report. However As per the report, action will be taken against two vice chancellors, 21 regional directors and teaching staff and others before December 3, he said.
