Mysuru: Former chief minister Siddaramaiah paid a visit to the hospitals where the devotees of Sulwadi Maramma Temple who had consumed poisoned prasadam are being treated, here on Saturday, December 15.
Siddaramaiah visited the emergency ward where patients are admitted, availed all the necessary information from the doctors and also spoke to some of the patients and their family members.
Later he told the doctors to handle this case with utmost responsibility and put in sincere efforts to rescue the patients.
Addressing the media, he said, “This doesn’t seem like it was an accidental poisoning but done with bad intention. Such criminals who have played with the lives of so many must be punished under the law.”
“A high-level probe must be initiated and Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy also has ordered for one. I’ll speak to the CM to ensure that the criminals are punished immediately”, he added.
Siddaramaiah said, “Already compensation has been declared to the families of the deceased by the state government and the ministers and MLAs concerned instructed to help the patients and bereaved families in every manner.”
“I’ve have met the deputy commissioner of Chamarajanagar and assessed the situation. This is truly a shocking incident”, he added.
