Mysore/Mysuru: Tragedy struck Devaraj Urs Road-JLB Road Junction this morning when a KSRTC bus collided with an electric scooter, leading to the death of a railway employee. The victim, identified as 58-year-old Shivakumar, was riding his electric scooter on Devaraj Urs Road around 7:15 AM.

The accident occurred at a time when the traffic signal lights at the junction were reportedly malfunctioning. Shivakumar was navigating the intersection to head towards the old Deputy Commissioner Office when the KSRTC bus, approaching from the Ramaswamy Circle side, struck his scooter. The impact threw Shivakumar to the ground, causing severe injuries.

Emergency services quickly transported Shivakumar to K.R. Hospital. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries. The Devaraja Traffic Police have filed a case and are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.

The incident highlights ongoing concerns about traffic signal maintenance and the need for enhanced road safety measures to prevent such tragic accidents.
