Mysuru: The woman who had filed a petition in the Supreme Court claiming to be the biological daughter of former Tamil Nadu chief minister Late Jayalalithaa, is a daughter of Jayalalitha’s sister, clarified a relative here in Mysuru on November 27.
Jayalalitha’s relative Vasudevan who is residing in Rangarajapura in T Narasipura in Mysuru, on Monday said that the woman is Jayalalitha’s sister Shailaja’s daughter. “To gain property rights she is claiming to be the daughter of Jayalalithaa. I do not know much about Jayalalitha’s only daughter. She must be living in Hyderabad or US.”
He further said, “I am confident that the Supreme Court will deliver the right judgement in connection with Jayalalithaa’s property and I have also written to PM and President to hand over her properties to the rightful person. I have also asked the home department to investigate Jayalalithaa’s death case which has led to several doubts. The department has replied and said that the case had been handed over to the CBI.”
The Supreme Court on Monday declined to entertain a petition by Amrutha, who claimed to be a biological daughter of the late J Jayalalithaa and had sought to exhume the AIADMK leader’s body for a DNA test to establish the petitioner’s parentage.
Amrutha said her foster parents-the sister and brother-in-law of the late Tamil Nadu chief Minister had adopted her in 1982. She claimed she was the biological daughter of Jayalalithaa and this was conveyed to her by her foster father before he died.
She urged the court to order exhumation of the body of her “mother” so that the family could perform her funeral in a traditional manner.
