Mysuru: The second batch of another six elephants-Vikrama, Gopi, Harsha, Prashanth, Durga Parameshwari and Gopalaswamy was given traditional welcome at palace premise here on Sunday.
The elephants will join Arjuna, Balarama and company for rehearsal after a day’s rest. The elephants will be put on a special diet to gain additional weight and will walk along the procession route twice a day to get acclimatized to the noise and crowd.
The second batch of elephants; Vikrama aged 43, Gopi aged 34, Harsha 49, Prashanth 60 are from Dubare Elephant Camp while Durga Parameshwari aged 49 and Gopalaswamy aged 34 are from K Gudi and Murkal Elephant camp.
It can be brought to light that, the first batch of six elephants, howdah elephant Arjuna, Balarama, Gajendra, Abhimanyu, Kavery and Vijaya arrived Mysuru Palace on August 26. With the arrival of second batch elephants, there will be 12 elephants which will be part Dasara procession this year.
