Mysuru: Former Minister V Srinivasa Prasad who recently resigned from the Congress party might soon join Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). According to sources, BJP veteran L K Advani, BJP national president Amit Shah and Home Minister Rajnath Singh have spoken to Prasad over phone. Earlier many BJP leaders from the State too had offered him to join them.
The former minister is likely to hold a public meeting to thank people of Nanjangud for backing him in his four-decade-long political journey. Sources said that he will also hold talks with BJP’s central leaders and announce his decision of joining the party along with his supporters after Deepavali and also seek support of opposition parties and anti-Congress forces to win the bypolls.
It is gathered that Prasad also clarified to the BJP leadership that he will not compromise on his ideology for social justice and commitment to strengthening the pluralistic society.
Prasad had earlier said that the result of the bypolls would give a befitting reply to Siddaramaiah and Parameshwara who dropped him the Cabinet without a valid reason.
