Mysuru: University of Mysore (UoM) Vice- Chancellor Prof G. Hemanth Kumar opined that students should be prepared for competitive examinations besides their regular studies.

Speaking at a day workshop organised by Dalit students, CSIR and UGC NET Training Centre on competitive exams on Thursday February 24 he said, “Youth are the treasure of our country. When we talk of youth, we remember thinker Swami Vivekananda’s words. He would always talk of youth. He felt youth can achieve anything in life.”

Prof Kumar said, “In childhood, our knowledge is not so good. When we cross the age of 18, we are ready to achieve anything as we have the strength and the knowledge.”

The Vice-Chancellor said “There are hundreds of ways to make a prompt living but we have to choose the right path. This is a competitive world and the approach to competitive exams is different. We should be prepared for competition. A mere degree will not help us. Only when we are prepared for competition, we stand a chance to progress.”

Mysuru Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Pradeep Gunti inaugurated the programme. UoM administrative officer Prof. P. Madesh, Students’ Welfare Centre Director Dr. S. T. Ramachandra, Registrar Prof R. Shivappa and IQAC Director Prof N. S. Harinarayan were present.
