Techie murder case: Mysuru city police arrest three accused

Mysuru: The Mysuru city police arrested three persons who were alleged to have murdered Basavaraju Alagundi (32), an engineer who was found dead near Kusuma Chandrashekhar convention hall near KRS Road on October 16.

Two held for drug peddling-1According to police the alleged accused have been identified as Manjunatha alias Motu Beedi (19), Mogaralli Manti of Srirangapattana, Nandisha (23) of Lokanayakanagar in Mysuru and Vinay Kumar alias Vinod (19) of Bhyraveshwaranagar in Mysuru. The victim who was brutally murdered by the trio on October 16 was working as a mechanical engineer at Innovative Fenestration which is set up in Hebbal Industrial Aarea. Though Basavaraju was murdered on October 16, the incident came to light on October 17. Based on certain clues, the trios were arrested in Manti near KRS on Sunday.

It is learnt that the trio attacked Basavaraju to steal his mobile phone and other valuables. When he resisted, they attacked him with weapons, due to severe blood loss, Basaraju died on the They dumped Basavaraju’s phone in a nearby lake and escaped. During the investigation, the trio confessed to the crime and also of stealing two-wheelers at Kuvempunagar and Jayalakshmipuram police station limits. During the arrest, police have recovered a knife, a mobile and three stolen two wheelers worth Rs 1 lakh. During investigation, it also came to light that the trio was also involved in many property offence cases.

The investigation was led by DCP H T Shekhar and ACP Umesh Shet. Metagalli police inspector H T Sunil Kumar, PSI Kumar, constables Mallikarjunappa, Shivananjappa, Purushottam, Lingarajappa, Suresh, Elias, Shivakumar, Vasantha, Asha, Krishnamurthy carried out the investigation. Inspector of the technical team Hashmath Khan, constables B N Gurudeva Aradhya, C M Manju were part of detecting team. Dr A Subrahmanyeshwara Rao, who took charge as police commissioner recently appreciated the police team who were involved in cracking the case.
