Despite repeated warnings from the police to be cautious of online investment offers, three individuals in Mysuru, including a teacher and a doctor, have fallen victim to online fraud, losing a total of ₹55.24 lakh.
In the first case, a teacher who joined a WhatsApp group focused on online investments was scammed. After joining the group, the teacher was approached by a person claiming to be the group’s assistant, Narayan Jindal, who persuaded him to download a mobile app. The scammer promised high returns and convinced the teacher to invest ₹25.35 lakh in phases, only to defraud him.
In the second case, a doctor became a victim after joining a WhatsApp group for stock market investments. The doctor received a call from someone named Abhishek Chopra and his assistant, who instructed the doctor to download the LSV Management App. Through this app, the doctor was tricked into investing ₹23.21 lakh, which was subsequently lost.
In the third case, a resident of Vijayanagar 4th Stage fell prey to fraudsters and lost ₹6.68 lakh. The City’s Cyber Economic and Narcotics (CEN) Police have registered cases in all three incidents and are investigating further.
