Mysuru: In a shocking incident, a tiger killed a cow tied to a shed in Abbur village, located in Hanagodu hobli of Hunsur taluk. The farmer, Madevashetty, was the only one to escape the deadly attack.
According to reports, Madevashetty had tied his cow to the shed on the outskirts of the village, as usual, and was sleeping nearby. In the middle of the night, the tiger entered the shed and killed the cow. Hearing the commotion and cries of the cow, Madevashetty woke up and screamed in fear. However, he managed to escape unharmed by quickly closing the door of the shed.
Upon receiving the distress call, forest department officials rushed to the site in the middle of the night. They fired crackers and firecrackers to scare the tiger away, pushing it back into the nearby forest.
The tiger had been reportedly frequenting the Shettalli reserve forest area for the past two months and has been spotted in the villages along the forest fringe. It has been attacking cattle in surrounding villages, leaving the local community in a state of fear.
Following the incident, villagers are expressing concern about their safety and the protection of their livestock. Geetha Suresh, the Gram Panchayat president, has urged the forest department to take immediate action to capture the tiger, as villagers have voiced their difficulty in safeguarding their cattle.
