Mysuru: One of the major attractions of the 10-day long Dasara festivities, and its finale, the traditional Jamboo Savari was held on here, on October 23. Goddess Chamundeshwari placed in a golden howdah on top of a beautifully decorated ‘Arjuna’ the elephant was the highlight of the grand procession.
This idol is worshipped by the royal couple and other invitees before it is taken around for the procession. The procession ends at the Banni Mantap.
CM Siddaramaiah, District in-charge minister Srinivas Prasad, Deputy Commissioner C Shikha and others were present on the occasion.
Jamboo Savari, replete with caparisoned elephants and cultural troupes, brought the curtains down on the Mysore Dasara here on Thursday.
As many as 23 tableaux of the various government departments were displayed showcasing Karnataka’s heritage on the occasion of the10-day Dasara celebrations here on Friday.
Artists performed Suggi Kunitha, Dollu kunitha, Veeragase, Yakshagana and other forms at the event.
The Police department displayed tableaux about cyber crime and security; Social welfare dept displayed one on eradicating untouchability while the Ayush dept made an informative display of world health systems. Several other departments also took part in the procession.
