Transgender makes grand daughter a kick boxing expert

Mysuru: A transgender who begs to eke out a living has made her grand daughter a kickboxing expert in the City.

The transgender Akram Pasha a.k.a Shabana (55), a native of Udayagiri here has been begging to make a living. She is rearing a girl named Bibi Fathima (15), who is studying in Class IX at St. Anthony English School. Shabana is not only looking after Fathima but also admitted her for kickboxing training since many years.

As a result of both Shabana and Fathima’s hardwork, the latter bagged gold medal in Wako India National Kickboxing Championship 2021 held in Pune last week. She has been selected for Asian Kickboxing Championship.

Speaking to News Karnataka Shabana said that she dreamt to make Fathima an international kichboxing champion. She said she could not meet expenses of her training and education and travelling expenses. Further, she expressed that owing to lockdown and Corona she could not get alms as expected. She appealed to sports lovers  and government to lend help. She said we are being humiliated by the society for no fault of ours. The people are treating us badly too. Our community people too are human beings, and people should be sensitive, she added.

Bibi Fathima said that my grandmother not only looks after me but she even supports my family for livelihood. She said she has won 21 medals in District, State and National level kickboxing championships so far. She said she is being trained under Mysuru District Kickboxing Association trainer S. Jaswanth.
